Synopsis[]
Inside the Potato Palace, the employees salute a customer. The customer, Dumpster Wizard, tells the employees that a great evil resides in the mall. His half-brother, Elmer, an elf, is running around. If Elmer is given a potato, he will transform into “something never seen before.”
Becoming angry at the old people running around, Peter uses a hula hoop to calm down. During his hooping, his tie becomes undone. Peter panics and asks Bob, the Potato Palace line cook, to retie it.
In his talking head, Bob says that he is a potato that became a real boy. Peter took him in when he was a little potato.
Augustus and Tater enter the Potato Palace in disguise. Augustus is disguised as Kirito from Sword Art Online, while Tater is wearing a hoodie and attempting to hide their face from Frite. They both speak in British accents. Before they can order, another customer, Chef Cook, enters the Potato Palace.
While Chef Cook orders, Jerry calls Tater, asking where they and Augustus are. Before Tater can explain, Jerry hears the noises of the Potato Palace in the background. He becomes upset, explaining that the Spud Hut does not play dirty, which includes spying on competition. Though he quickly changes his mind, telling Tater to find something good and not get caught.
Peter suspects that Chef Cook may be a spy from the Spud Hut that an unnamed informant told him about. Peter and Bob grill Chef Cook, telling him that he cannot sit down nor look at the menu while he orders. Frite attempts to get his order, but the group cannot understand his accent.
Chef Cook asks how the potatoes got so big, causing Bob to almost break and tell him. Upset, Peter begins to hula hoop. Frite tells Bob to take the order.
Peter continues to grill Chef Cook for information and goes so far as to attempt to rip the mustache off his face. It does not come off. Still unconvinced, Peter throws Chef Cook out of the store.
To get back at the Spud Hut, Peter suggests that he goes on an espionage mission. Frite gives a half-hearted attempt to stop him, but ultimately lets him go.
In a cloud of magic, Elmer appears. Despite immediately recognizing him and remembering the warning that Dumpster Wizard gave, they serve Elmer a potato anyway. He gives an evil laugh and declares that he will now begin to pirate music.
Augustus recognizes that the potatoes at the Potato Palace are genetically modified.
During a quiet moment, Tater coughs, giving away her and Augustus’ cover. Frite tells Bob to take a smoke break and asks Augustus if she can talk to Tater alone. Shocked, Tater asks how Frite knew who she was. Frite tells her that she knows her scent. In her talking head, Frite says she knew in her heart that it was Tater.
The pair talk, and after complementing the interior of the restaurant, Tater asks how they have so much money. Frite reveals that she has rich parents. She was betrothed to Peter Parker in an arranged marriage and was intended to run the Potato Palace herself, but she wanted to be a sign spinner. After rejecting Peter’s hand in marriage, her parents cut her off. She became an employee of Peter’s and a sign spinner at the Potato Palace out of spite.
Tater asks if Frite had ever heard the Ed Sheeran song “Shape of You” to which Frite says she has. Tater then begins to recite the lyrics as a poem. In her talking head, Tater admits that she feels like she has a crush on “someone.”
Frite, again, asks how Tater is doing after her breakup. Tater admits that no one ever asks her that. The pair start to talk about dating in the mall. While Frite doesn’t dismiss the idea of dating in the mall, Tater takes a hard stance against it. Despite this, the pair share a longing glance and briefly touch hands. Sparks fly, startling the two.
Augustus and Bob return to the Potato Palace. Behind the counter, Augustus spots Yuki, the dakimakura (body pillow) that Peter is “married” to. Augustus reveals that Yuki is his ex. Bob misinterprets this as Peter, Yuki, and Augustus being in a polygamous relationship, though he is accepting of them. The pair spend time bonding over potato-related ideas.
Meanwhile, Frite and Tater continue to talk. During their conversation, Tater kicks a bucket. The bucket contains the secret as to how Potato Palace gets their potatoes so big.
Bob reveals to Augustus that he is actually a potato boy, which prompts questions from Augustus. He explains that he was created when Peter came onto a potato and then planted it into the bucket of sand.
Jerry enters the Potato Palace, furious to see his employees mingling with Peter’s. He orders the pair out.
Back at the Spud Hut, the group checks their surroundings to see if they’ve been followed. Not noticing anyone, they talk about what they learned. Tater tries to summarize the genetically modified potatoes and the sand that makes them grow, but she does not remember exactly what Frite said. According to Jerry, modifying the potatoes is against the rules of the Potato State Fair.
Before they can speak further, they realize that someone posing as a janitor has been cleaning right behind them. Peter reveals that he's been spying on them. After confronting him about the sand, Peter denies the accusation that Potato Palace modifies their potatoes.
The employees of the Spud Hut argue with Peter, calling him gay. Eventually, Jerry declares war—and then famine—on the Potato Palace.
Michael enters the Spud Hut and frantically begins to explain to the group that the Potato Palace uses the sand from the M. Night Shyamalan movie “Old” to genetically modify their potatoes. Excited, Jerry tells the group that if they could prove that Potato Palace is cheating, they could get them disqualified from the Potato State Fair.
