Game Information[]

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (titled Ratchet & Clank: QForce in Japan and PAL) is a 2012 platform tower defense game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was produced in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Ratchet & Clank series. The game involves the QForce defending the galaxy in intergalactic conflict in the year 5363.

Single-player features three playable characters: Qwark, Ratchet, and Clank. Gameplay is more action-based, primarily due to the new tower-defense element involving building and defending a base and a focus on combat. The game features a full arsenal of weapons, primarily taken from previous PS3 games with some given a new twist for balance. Levels are set up in an open fashion and weapons are dotted around levels and hidden in pods, with the stronger ones being harder to find. The player has to kill enemies while they traverse the level to find weapons. Near the end, the player has to set up defenses around the level to defend against an onslaught, and defenses are brought with bolts obtained from killing enemies before the major assault.

There is a competitive and co-op multiplayer mode, featuring five levels set on three different planets and revolving around each player protecting their base and attacking the enemy base.

The game received mostly average reviews from critics. It was criticized for its short length, lack of a proper story, the new tower defense element (which greatly contributed to its already brutal difficulty), lackluster campaign experience, and severe deviations from previous games in the series, with many calling it the worst game in the series. However, it did receive praise for its soundtrack, multiplayer mode, and replay value.
