REAL LIFE PHYSICS W/ VERITASIUM (Smosh Lab) is an episode of Smosh Lab. Instead of Shayne's normal co-host Nick Uhas, it features guest scientist Derek Muller from the YouTube channel Veritasium.

SMOSH LAB pairs SMOSH super-talent SHAYNE TOPP with an actual scientist and they do KICK-ASS science experiments. Every episode will feature a new science experiment and a big friggin’ mess. It’s LEARNING… on accident.

"This week on Smosh Lab - learning physics with Veritasium!"

Synopsis

Experiment 1: "Center of Gravity"

Noah and Shayne attempt to find the center of gravity on a cane, but ultimately fail. When you place your hands out on either side of the cane, and slide them together, it will balance the cane perfectly, due to friction.

Experiment 2: "The Phone Flip"

It is possible to flip a phone sideways, but it's more difficult to flip end over end, and near impossible to do a perfect rotation. The moment of inertia affects and object in a certain way, and make it difficult to flip things in certain ways.

Experiment 3: "Magnetic Cheerios"

Derek places a cheerio in a bowl of water. When he places the magnet near the cheerio, it attracts. There's a certain amount of iron into cheerios, which causes it to react to the magnet.

Experiment 4: "Magnetic Water?"

Derek takes a piece of plastic that is definitely not magnetic, but when placed in water, it acts as such. The water acts a magnetic field, which reacts with the magnet.

Courtney runs a comb through her hair few times, and Shayne rubs a balloon on his head to 'steal' some electrons from them. He then uses the static to react with the polarity of the water, which pulls the stream towards the static object.

Experiment 5: "Tea Bag Rocket"

Derek takes a tea bag and snips the top open, and empties out the tea. He sets the tea bag up and sets it on fire. It lifts itself into the air after it entirely burns, due to the quickly moving molecules. It gets caught up into a convection current and lifts into the air.
