Puberty is the process of physical changes through which a child matures into an adult. It has been featured in numerous Smosh media, making its first appearance in "Oh, the Joys of Puberty," a 2002 Smosh.com article written by Ian Hecox.
Description[]
Puberty is the process of physical changes through which a child matures into an adult capable of sexual reproduction. It is initiated by hormonal signals from the brain to the gonads — the testes in boys and ovaries in girls — which produce hormones that stimulate libido and the growth, function, and transformation of nearly every system within the body. Puberty typically begins between the ages of eight and thirteen in girls and nine and fourteen in boys.[1]
History[]
Puberty first appeared in "Oh, the Joys of Puberty," a 2002 Smosh.com article written by Ian Hecox. In the story, set in 2002, the character of Hecox started undergoing puberty, which he realized after unknowingly getting an erection while at a Burger King. Hecox initially celebrated the start of his puberty, but over the course of the next few weeks, he experienced a series of uncontrollable erections and wet dreams that led to his frequently soiling his bedsheets and getting laughed at, both at school and at home. This led to Hecox unsuccessfully attempting to commit suicide via seppuku, after which he concluded that puberty was the opposite of what he originally thought it would be.[2]
In the section entitled "The Reasons to love puberty," Hecox gave a list of tips to readers in puberty, including hunching over to better conceal an erection, not masturbate too many times in a day, and avoid "mature" pornography websites.[2]
