Patrick McDonald was the head writer and director of programming at Smosh. He has also made appearances on several Try Not to Laugh videos, Eat It Or Yeet It: Lunchbox Edition, Courtney and Patrick Play 2 Truths 1 Lie, and Can We Teach A College Class? | The Challenge Pit. He was also the first person to play the "Sax Man" in the Funeral Roast videos. Patrick went from working full-time for Smosh to working freelance in early 2023, with his position as director of the main channel taken by Smosh cofounder Ian Hecox until he, too, was subbed out by Lizzy Jones.
In 2021, Patrick began the podcast Artists On Artists On Artists On Artists with Kylie Brakeman, Jeremy Culhane, and Angela Giarratana, and in 2025 followed up with a standalone podcast, entitled Havin' A Day with Patrick McDonald. He also writes and produces content for Dropout.tv.
