Hey there! I am unable to message you on Wikitubia, so I thought I would on here.
I was attempting to edit a section of a page that had incorrect grammar and inconsistant font + spacing, and whilst doing so, I somehow got myself banned. The ban is "Prevent page blanking / excessive content removal" and for context, I was simply replacing the exact same content with the same list of words (besides two lines of description at the beginning with bad grammer, which I rephrased) with more consistant/appealing font size and colour, and removing a noticbly large space of blank lines. I copied the text, deleted it and pasted it again since it was an easier method of doing so, and no content was further deleted that wasn't a gramatical mistake to begin with. I strongly believe this is an error, and would greatly appreciate if you could help me out here!
Welp man, I tried editing it again but in a limited quantity and it banned me again. I guess I'll stop trying to edit it now hahah, is it possible for you to unblock me again? Extremely sorry for the invoncenience.
I don't care who it is said by, be it a guest star on Gamer Nation, a one-liner by Shayne, or even one of the "Shut Up!" opening lines. The reason the one on Avatar Wiki works is because Zuko is essentially pointing out that the article title is *technically* incorrect. Any quote that does that is good; the more ideas, the better, since Smosh has a lot to peruse through.
(I'd do it myself, but you seem to be more knowledgeable about Smosh than me, hence why I contacted you specifically in the first place.)
Firstly, I assumed that you wanted a quote that better features/portrays a character from Smosh due to you saying "it's not exactly name or identify-related" and also from looking at the "Are you a wizard or not" question on the Avatar Wiki. After your second reply, I assumed the quoting was indicating that a page had a name based on details rather than direct promoting such as "Hermione Granger's Mother" rather than her actual name (I'm in the notion that her name is unidentified, I've only read the first three Harry Potter books and saw brief scenes of the movies). Or an example on this Wiki, due to his name being unknown, Anthony Padilla's grandson goes by "Anthony Padilla's grandson". I also thought the quote was supposed to consist of something along the lines of asking for a proper (both factual and non-controversial) name for the article (humorously) as I percieved from "Are you a wizard or not" on the Harry Potter Wiki. I actually didn't get the Avatar Wiki link for further understanding and reference.
I'd like to still help you.
Although it was very hard finding specific quotes correlating with what you're asking me, here are some quotes that may fit your criteria (all "Shut Up! opening lines and to a a bit over moderate degree, a detailed description for you to be convinced.
TOTALLY ACCURATE WRESTLING MATCH - Wrestling isn't fake, it's real. (To initiate that the reader got the inaccurate idea on the page's in a ironic/humorous (somewhat the vibe I recieved from the "Are you a wizard or not" question) manner.)
ONE LETTER OFF SUPERHEROES - Oh you don't even know what happens to that superhero because you don't read the comics! (To jokingly pinpoint that since the editor does not know much about the topic in hand to make the upmost correct title for the page in question, they should investigate more information about the topic to get the maximum grasp to properly translate the original title to the subsequent "more appropriate one".)
19 More Crazy Vines (That Don't Exist) - Why do they call it Vine? Why not six second YouTube? (Another humorous and ironic quote which encourages the editor to seek out the correct title for the page in hand.)
If the quotes aren't 100% suitable, we can tweak it to make it such, and of course we need a description below the quote to elaborate, just like the one on the Harry Potter Wiki.
Oh, and the initial quote I gave you was actually from The Best Car EVER, my mistake.
If you are wondering why I was abruptly absent, this month has been particularly stressful for me and I have had to focus more on school and studies. I will be much more active when this part of the year passes, but until then, thank you for keeping Smosh Wiki running and up to date.
I think the page is very awesome and a great revolution to a Smosh main channel video page! The only thing I personally dislike is the amount of unused specific categories and the non usage of our widely used broad current categories but we all can agree and work on the equation soon! I'm going to add more to the page later.
I wanted to know your opinion on something since you seem to be the only other user who is both consistently editing and responds relatively fast. I have thinking of adding pages for each day of the year, and on each date page listing events relevant to Smosh, such as birthdays, video releases, events, etc. A good example of this done right is on the Harry Potter Wiki, for reference. What do you think?
Not bad at all. The project will take awhile due to Smosh's adundancy but it will be a more convenient way in looking at Smosh history. What do you plan on calling this page?
EDIT: I just realised you are creating a page for each day of the year. I thought you were making a page consisting of all of the days of the year and putting the histories of Smosh in each section (day) like a timeline. If not that, this probably would be a good alternative.
The second is exactly what I was originally talking about, but a timeline (as a separate idea) is also good. One of the reasons I am making a lists of videos is to help with such a project, but I am far from done.
As for titles: dates should be obvious (January 1. January 2, etc.) and timelines should just be titled "Timeline of [Subject]".
Cool, I'm 99.9% likely to help out on the project when it comes up, good luck on it!
I didn't want to ask you this question until I was pratically finished with all of the subscribers and views pages of the Smosh channels (including the most recent) but what do you think about the Smosh Games' Subscribers And Views page?
Thanks a lot! I'm planning on doing the same to Anthony's personal channel next and I'll see what'll happen after. Good luck on both of our projects, hopefully we'll help each other out on them along the way!
If you could also help out with the video lists, that'd be fantastic. I am kind of swamped right now, as it has been a bit hectic before spring break, but I should be a hell of a lot more active on here by then... hopefully.
I like how detailed, well written and constructed the article is. I think you should maybe change the titles of the turns of Lazercorn and Sohinki to something else. I like the infobox but maybe the blue line surrounding it should change to a color more similar to green. Overall, its a good page :) ! You don't have to follow my suggestions.
Regarding the articles for dates, what other sections should I put in the articles besides videos? And while you are gone, should I start creating date articles?
Go ahead and create date articles whenever you want. I'll look them over.
As for additional sections, after Videos, there would be Births (first IRL, then in any of Smosh's fiction), then Deaths (same order). Notable events would be placed in a separate section (Events) above Videos. Examples of notable events would include someone joining or leaving Smosh, a scandal, the release of something non-video i.e. a comic or magazine, the launch of a channel or website, etc.
If you have any questions as to what else would count as "notable", by all means, ask.
Edit - I was referring to the new infobox, but additional feedback is always welcome.
Hi! I don't have the power to do that, at least right now, but it was great that you contacted most of the Smosh Wiki administrators! I'm sure that they will ask for proof that Miel asked for her Smosh Wiki page to be deleted, just to let you know! Good luck and have a nice day!
We're leaving the page up man. Miel sent people like that person over here to mess with the page and her biggest reason for wanting it deleted is because it comes up before her IMDb page and her website when you search her on Google.
To clarify, Olivia's "skinnier". And to admit, I did word the statement like that to add humor, I know it's not the most professional way to word it. I don't really have a problem with it not being on the page but if a more professional way to word the statement comes to my head, I'll add it on the page.
Just wanted to give a thank you for helping keep the Smosh Wiki alive, it’s hard to keep it up and going whenever you only have four people that contribute regularly. So again thank you and keep on contributing!
I believe Smosh will unfourtunately further go down the most subscribed and most viewed charts due to YouTube's forechanging algorithms and trends that shift further and further away from sketch comedy.
There are many channels getting subscribers and views at an alarming rate such as T-Series, Canal KondZilla, among others and Smosh's sub and view gain rate sadly can't compare anymore.
Many still miss the original Smosh duo and even at their final years Smosh was starting to fade in popularity due to their humor and production being different to what made them popular in the first place. Even if Ian and Anthony were still on Smosh or even all of Smosh and still were like their prime, people would eventually get tired of it and move on.
Times change. People change. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the opposite.
I think one of the main reasons why Smosh released their "You Posted That?" series to their main channel was because of retention time, popular faces, and something different than sketch comedy which are some of the things trending on YouTube right now.
That explains why Smosh has started to gain subscribers and viewers at a faster and more consistent rate again. But nothing like before.
Ian leaving Smosh would be one of the last piece of sweet nostalgia Smoshers will hold and afterwards, the channel will...well I'll explain.
Smosh will see a drastic drop in viewers. 20 million out of the nearly 23 million Smosh subscribers around the world subscribed when it was only Ian and Anthony. After other people take over, not all, but most would be uninterested. Many were already uninterested when Ian and Anthony were together in their final years and are with Ian and the squad currently.
Smosh will also see a somewhat rapid decline in subscribers. Most of Smosh's subscribers are either dead (inactive accounts) or not watching (moved on but may watch here and there).
Many times during 2017, Smosh would lose thousands of subscribers within a week. They would gain them back but Smosh did everything they could to gain some of them back again and even more.
Eventually, that won't be the case. Smosh will be very different without it's original taste to it and fans or "fake fans" are not going to stay for it. People like what they want, when they want it.
There will be new fans or even old fans who may like and follow the future Smosh but if Smosh hasn't gotten a large amount of subscribers for the past few years now, I don't think they'll get it then.
The reason why nigahiga is still gaining subscribers and views at a decent rate (I use nigahiga as an example because his humor, YouTube presence and impact is very similar to Smosh's) is because it's mostly still him and he has barely changed. Although he is not as famous as he used to be (reasonable explanations such as not uploading often, trends and algorithms shifting away from sketch comedy), he is still nigahiga and may surpass Smosh again in the coming years if the subscriber gap between both channels keep closing.
I still believe that Smosh will be forever known as one of the top YouTube channels due to their presence and impact on the site but they will definitely be at least in the middle of the top 100 most subscribed and at least be out of the top 100 most viewed YouTube channels five years from now.
No matter what, we can't deny Smosh's greatness on the largest video sharing site.
Honestly, I believe gaming is starting to fade, but slowly. Vlogging is a very popular YouTube genre (almost always been), music, among a billion others, lol.
But back to Smosh, I feel as if many old fans (most of their subscribers) left and new fans stopped coming as quickly shortly after the Smosh Squad appeared because they may feel the same way.
Due to the lack of Ian amd Anthony, viewership declined simply because most human beings don't like change as much as they think, including myself. But eventually I change into something better and so should everyone else which is true for many.
And please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Smosh Squad is a complete failure because they have sure opened many different oppourtunities for Smosh and and have and will continue to replace Ian and Anthony when they are gone.
I just feel as if they came at the wromg time and changed Smosh too hard, too much, and too quickly, drifting millions of viewers and potential viewers away.
However, that won't take back the incredible history Smosh has made in the media, but Smosh in my opinion is no longer on top sadly.
