Smosh Wiki

Max is a character on Smosh and the main character of the 2007 and 2009 music videos "Hardcore Max" and "Hardcore Max 2". He was played by Ian Hecox.

Character[]

Max is very egotistical and thinks himself as "cool" and "hardcore". He swears often and disregards basic safety equipment, such as refusing to wear his helmet as that would make him look "really geeky". In his opinion, not doing so makes him look "cool" and he instead keeps his helmet attached to the handlebars of his bicycle. Max also disregards others, such as destroying the property of a pedestrian and hitting on girls while he has a girlfriend.[3]

In 2006, Max was ten years old. He had brown hair and light skin and wore a large white headband, dark sunglasses, a light grey T-shirt with a black printed design on the front, dark pants, and white shoes. He carried a dark grey backpack with yellow highlights on his way to school.[2]

History[]

Max stood inside his garage as he waits for the door to raise. While the vocalists sang about how "cool" and "hardcore" he is, once open, Max hopped atop his bicycle and sped down the street on his way to school, keeping his helmet dangling by the strap on his handlebar instead of on his head. While biking to school, he sped in front of a car that was forced to swerve and brake to avoid colliding with him, talked on and cursed into his phone, hit on a girl, smelled his armpit, performed wheelies, took a swig from his water bottle, threw a pile of school papers into the street, and occasionally posed for the camera. At one point, he swatted a stack of books out of the hands of a pedestrian, who yelled at Max as he rode off, prompting him to turn around and return to stomp on and grind his bicycle tire into the books while the pedestrian helplessly watched. During this, the vocalists sang about Max's behavior, mentioning his preference for keeping his helmet on his handlebar and how he was failing all of his classes. They discovered that Max was only ten years old, but they decide that they do not care about Max's age as, according to them, Max is more "cool" than they are.[4]

Later, while riding through Primrose Park, while the vocalists tried to warn him, Max's helmet was knocked off the handlebar and lands in front of the front tire, tripping Max and the bike over. The impact knocked him unconscious while the vocalists sing about how Max suffered a concussion and would be in a coma for the next three weeks, but, according to them, it was worth it because helmets make one appear "really geeky".[5]
