"Guardians of Middle-earth from Monolith and Warner Bros. is a new action real-time strategy game bringing the genre to the console for the very first time. Many people are skeptical as to whether or not a game like this can succeed in the console space, but with the strong lore of Lord of the Rings as its guide, this game seeks to silence the haters. So is Guardians a word of ARTS, or is it just a game that is out of its element? Let's take a look."

"Guardians of Middle-earth does a decent job of migrating the ARTS genre to the console. I have to say I did have a decent amount of fun playing it, but with the game working how it's supposed to, with no lag, what you have in Guardians is a game that lacks the depth of other similar PC-based titles. If you're a newcomer to the genre, someone that prefers consoles, or just someone that loves Lord of the Rings, you'll probably enjoy this game, but if you're used to playing League of Legends or Defense of the Ancients, then you'll probably won't want to spend the $15 on this one, especially since the games you're already playing are free. I give Guardians of Middle-earth 6.5 Gollums out of 10."

Trivia[]

  • Sohinki's wordplay at the end of his intro is a pun on the word "art" and the abbreviation for action real-time strategy (ARTS), the genre of Guardians of Middle-earth.
