James Bond is a fictional spy/secret agent created by novelist Ian Fleming in 1953, he is the main character in the 007 books which have been made into films by MGM/Eon Productions. The character's first appearance in the books was in Casino Royale (1953) and his first film appearance was in Dr. No (played by Sean Connery) (1962).
So far, six actors have portrayed James Bond 007 over 24 films (in the MGM/Eon film series):

- George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)

- Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day)
- Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre)
The character has also been played in other adaptations by the following actors:
- Barry Nelson (in a 1954 TV production of Casino Royale for the American Anthology series Climax!)
- Bob Holness (in a production of Moonraker for a South African radio station in 1956)
- David Niven (in Casino Royale, a 1967 comedy loosely based on the eponymous novel)
