How Google's Space Ship FAILED, formerly titled ASTRONAUT GOOGLE SEARCH FAIL, is a Smosh video released on October 14, 2016.
Description[]
Always remember to clear your search history.
Synopsis[]
The video begins with the astronauts, Pilot Gibson (Ian Hecox) and Commander Carter (Anthony Padilla), getting the final checks for their spaceship, the Space Q Legacy, with three minutes left before takeoff, with their AI assistant, Lucy (Olivia Sui), helping them.
As Lucy reminded them that the flight was funded by Google and that their google accounts would be used for optimal communication, Gibson started to get worried about his search history and wanted to delete them. At first, Carter politely stopped him, saying that they had more important tasks at hand and they watched porn, meaning it wouldn't be as embarrassing (with Lucy even reassuring that masturbation was natural). When Gibson was more worried than searching up porn, Carter thought it was because he was a fellow furry and tried to fist-bump him. Gibson then tried to drop the matter again but Carter caught on, asking Lucy to look up his latest search history. That was when the bombshell dropped: Gibson asked how to fly a space-plane.
Carter was shocked that as the pilot, Gibson should have known how to fly the spaceship or at least not refer it as a space-plane. Gibson tried to pass off his inexperience of being an astronaut by saying it was only that part of being an astronaut he did know but reassured he knew everything. With two more minutes to takeoff, Carter asked for Gibson's next three most recent google searches and got the following:
- Directions to Mars
- Is space good?
- What flavor is Space Jam?
Frustrated, Carter said they were going to die. Having enough, Gibson asked Lucy to look up Carter's three most recent google search history to see if he was perfect and got the following results:
- How long can people survive without food?
- Where to buy food in space
- How to get your co-pilot to forgive you
As Gibson asked if he ate all of the spaceship's food, Carter replied that he should have known he stress eats. Mad, Gibson said that even if he could have flown the spaceship, they were going to die by starvation. With only one minute left to takeoff, Gibson tried cancelling the mission but Carter stopped him, saying that if they did, they would be the laughing stock to the entire Space Q and lose everything. Seeing the point, Gibson tried to activate the autopilot to the nearest space station. However, Lucy refused to do so, causing both astronauts to get suspicious. After a while, they both searched up Lucy's most recent google searches and gotten the following:
- How to sneak into a space shuttle?
- How to hide inside a computer?
- How to sound like a robot?
Lucy then made a confession. Suddenly in the shuttle's back, a panel came out and a girl came out of the space. She then revealed that Lucy was her. Carter was shocked upon seeing her, his daughter with him, wondering what caused her to be in the spaceship (and was dumbfounded by Gibson thinking his daughter was somehow a computer). Lucy revealed that ever since Carter became an astronaut, she never saw him again, causing Carter to realize that she basically made the entire mission suicidal just to spend some time with him. Proud and sorry for the accidental neglect, Carter hugged her. Gibson then asked how they were supposed to fly the plane, which Carter responded that they did so via love, embracing Gibson and kissing his head.
With the final countdown, the spaceship took off, with everyone convinced the mission will go well. However, as expected, it blew up shortly after takeoff, killing everyone on board.
Trivia[]
- At 0:11, Carter typed in LOL.
- According to the Behind-the-scenes video, the spacesuits used are actually the ones used in Gravity.
