Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie, is a Swedish vlogger and video game commentator popularized by his horror-themed and Let's Play videos on YouTube. The channel, which now mostly consists of vlogs and reviews, was formerly the most subscribed on YouTube with over 95 million subscribers, holding the number-one spot for a record-breaking five years.

Felix first surpassed Smosh to become the most subscribed channel on YouTube on August 15, 2013 but after YouTube Spotlight and PewDiePie surpassed each other multiple times for the top spot, he officially became the most subscribed channel on YouTube. He remained in this spot until the end of 2018, when he was suddenly surpassed by rapid-growing channel T-Series; however, Felix later took the lead once again. In a series of events similar to the earlier competition with YouTube Spotlight, the two channels continued to vie for the top spot before T-Series finally surpassed Felix for good in early 2019, although Felix remained the most-subscribed individual on the site until being surpassed by MrBeast in 2022.

Felix has made many collaboration videos with Smosh in 2013, such as appearing in several Smosh Games episodes, "THE END OF CHRISTMAS (Part 2)" on the main channel, and the Smosh Babies episode IAN'S LOST LOVE. He was one of the personalities who appeared in the Smosh 10th Anniversary Week special, "EVERY SMOSH VIDEO EVER". He also appeared in vlogs by Anthony and Kalel, though none of those vlogs exist anymore.

Life[]

Felix created his YouTube channel in April 2010. In 2012, his channel began to grow, reaching 1 million subscribers in July and 2 million in September. In July 2013, he overtook Jenna Marbles as the second most subscribed YouTube channel and surpassed then-leading channel, Smosh, on August 15, 2013. Felix has been the most subscribed YouTuber for over five years, with over 80 million subscribers.

In 2016, Felix released a YouTube Red series titled Scare PewDiePie, which features him exploring sets based on horror games he has played. A second season was filmed, but the series was canceled amid controversies. Felix's gameography includes PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist, which was played in the Gametime with Smosh episode SMOSH JOINS THE BRO ARMY!.

In early 2017, it was reported that he had used a racial slur displaying anti-Semitic imagery in his videos. The controversy even resulted in Maker Studios cutting ties with him and the cancellation of Scare PewDiePie. However, many in the YouTube community defended Felix and criticized the way the media handled the incident.

By late 2018, however, the YouTube channel of an Indian media company named T-Series had been gaining massive popularity throughout the year, now currently holding the title of most-subscribed. Felix jokingly called upon his fanbase to rally against this; however, Felix later took the lead once again. In a series of events similar to the earlier competition with YouTube Spotlight, the two channels continued to vie for the top spot before T-Series finally surpassed Felix for good in early 2019, although Felix remained the most-subscribed individual on the site until being surpassed by MrBeast in 2022.

Since 2011, Felix has been in a relationship with Italian YouTuber Marzia Bisognin. In April of 2018, they became engaged while in Japan, the same country in which Smosh co-founder Anthony Padilla became engaged and Smosh Games member and Smosh Pit host Mari Takahashi was married. In August of 2019, Felix and Marzia got married at Kew Gardens in London.
