Elsa is a Disney Princess and one of the main characters of the 2013 film Frozen and its 2019 sequel Frozen II. She is voiced by American Broadway actress and singer Idina Menzel (as well as Eva Bella as a young child and by Spencer Ganus as a teenager). Loosely based on the title character of "The Snow Queen", a Danish fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, she is introduced in the Disney film adaptation as a princess and later queen of the Scandinavian kingdom of Arendelle and the older sister of Princess Anna. Elsa has the magical ability to create and manipulate ice and snow, which causes her to accidentally send Arendelle into an eternal winter on the evening of her coronation. Throughout the film, she struggles first with controlling and concealing her abilities and then with liberating herself from her fears of unintentionally harming others, especially her younger sister.
The Snow Queen character proved difficult to adapt to film due to her transparent depiction. Several film executives, including Walt Disney, attempted to build on the character, and a number of scheduled film adaptions were shelved when they could not work out the character. Frozen directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee were ultimately able to solve the dilemma by depicting Elsa and Anna as sisters, with Anna's struggle being external and Elsa's internal. She Elsa has received largely positive reception from reviewers and Idina Menzel was also widely praised for her vocal performance of Elsa, especially that of her performance of the song "Let It Go".
I-Nerd and A-Nerd react to a trailer for "Frozen: The Reboot" after Disney has "really" ran out of ideas. Written by Fifty Shades of Grey author E. L. James, the trailer depicts Elsa chained in a sex dungeon. Elsa sings a variation of "Let It Go":
Let me go, let me go!
Can't live down here anymore!
An uncomfortable I-Nerd is unsure how the trailer is making him feel while A-Nerd expresses hope that Elsa will "get freaky" with Olaf. I-Nerd confusedly curses Stan Lee before changing the channel.
In a deleted scene based on Frozen, Elsa, in solitude in her Ice Palace, finds herself hungry. She admits that she had not considered how to get herself food up in her palace. Olaf appears and suggests that she tries the "lemon-shaved ice" he found outside, unaware that it is obviously just snow tainted with urine. Elsa declines, to which Olaf simply shrugs and gobbles the ice whole, to Elsa's shock.
In the segment based on Frozen II, Shayne and Damien remark how all of the former's drinks in the office refrigerator are "frozen," "frozen also," and "frozen as well", but they, as well as Elsa, all agree that Shayne's drinks are "very cold".
