The driving instructor is a character on Smosh. His only appearance was in the 2007 video "License Test", in which he was played by Ian Hecox.

Character

The driving instructor was the assigned teacher to assess the traffic skills Anthony Padilla. However, he seems to have, at best, a dubious understanding of traffic law, indicated by his numerous failings of his student for infractions such as stopping for more than three seconds despite the presence of a pedestrian, swerving into the opposite lane despite the presence of babies on the road, and failure to drive away from a shooting in time.

The instructor has light skin, brown hair, and blue eyes. In the video, he wore a red polo shirt, blue jeans, and light shoes.

History

"License Test"

The instructor assesses Anthony's driving.

Upon first entering the car with Anthony, the instructor says hello and asks Anthony to point to several items in the car, including the turn signals, the hazard lights, and the "flux capacitor" (a joking reference to Back to the Future). Anthony correctly identifies the first two but sits in silent confusion at the third while the instructor laughs at his own joke. He initially tries to explain the reference but soon drops it and gives Anthony permission to start driving. Soon into the drive, Anthony is instructed to take a right and soon stops at a crosswalk to let an elderly pedestrian pass. While they wait, the instructor soon grows impatient and claims that Anthony had passed the three-second legal stop limit. Anthony tries pointing out the pedestrian, but the instructor is unmoved. After a brief argument, the instructor fails Anthony.

Returning for his second try, Anthony is disappointed to see the same instructor enter his car. During the drive, Anthony is doing well until the instructor spots several babies lying in the road. Anthony swerves around them, entering the opposite lane in the process. Seeing his student enter the opposite lane in the process, the instructor berates Anthony for his "illegal" action. Anthony argues that there babies in the road, but the instructor fails him for the second time.

During Anthony's third attempt, Anthony is instructed to pull over next to a certain house and wait while he exits the car and enters the house. From inside, gunshots and the shattering of glass can be heard, and the instructor soon exits the house with two duffel bags and a gun in hand that he uses to fire a few bullets back at the house. Reentering the car, he orders Anthony to "punch it!" as he continues to fire back at the house. As they leave, the instructor inspects his body and notices that he has been shot. He assures Anthony that he will be fine, but he will have to fail Anthony because of it.

The instructor escapes the house, duffels bags and gun in hand.

During his fourth try, the instructor finally passes Anthony, gaining the student both his license and an extensive criminal record in the process.
