Classic Smosh , also referred to as the old Smosh , refers to the series of videos on the Smosh main YouTube channel that contain the popular sketch format and always starring the channel's founders, Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla . It was the primary format of the channel from its inception in 2005 until the addition of the Smosh Squad members in 2015 , although classic-style videos continued until the departure of Padilla on June 14 , 2017 , with multiple recurring themes spawning from this period. After Padilla returned to Smosh and, with Hecox, bought the entire company in 2023 , Classic Smosh returned from June 30 , 2023 until June 14 , 2024 , before the channel was reformatted to give way for Bit City
