Samuel Chanse McCrary (born May 28, 1994) is an American actor and a cast member of Smosh.
Despite being confirmed to be a member of the Smosh Family in August 2022, he has already had an on-camera debut earlier; his first credited appearence was that of a non-speaking role in the Smosh Pit video "THEY WANT TO KILL MY PET?! (Reddit Reenactment)", uploaded on May 18, 2022. He was the co-host of the first season of Bit City (together with Angela) and the Reunions series.
Outside of Smosh, Chanse regularly performs in improv comedy theaters and the like. He has been a part of the group Moon Goon since at least 2019, in which he has come through to know other Smosh folk, including Angela, Patrick McDonald (former writer and Director of Programing for Smosh Main), and Josh Fleury (former editor for Smosh Main).[4][5] He has also recorded several TikToks and performed for The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre & Story Pirates.
According to his Upright Citizen Brigade Theather talent information page, he has studied in Northwestern University and had training in Second City.

- Chanse was connected to various other Smosh members before officially joining the channel.
- Through the sketch team Moon Goon, he has known Angela Giarratana, Josh Fleury (former editor for Smosh Main), and Patrick McDonald (writer and former Director of Programming of Smosh Main) since at least 2019.[4]
- Chanse has been shown to have a very high tolerance to spicy food.[6] [7]
- Chanse mentioned to have gotten into a minor motorcycle accident in Texas.[8]
- A running joke within the Smosh Community is Chanse knowing very little about Smosh, as referenced in videos like Chanse & Ian Play 2 Truths 1 Lie and Learning WAY Too Much About Each Other.
- Chanse used to sleep with a katana and a bo staff and would practice seeing how fast he could equip them.[9]
- Since Chanse was little, he would have a set of phrases that he would frequently use. Catchphrases used during his time on Smosh include: “That’s good”, “Don’t do that”, “And I’ve always said that”, “Ew”, “No”, “Leave it”, and “That’s funny”.[10]
- Chanse has a scar on his stomach from being thrown onto stone steps by his older cousin.[11]
- Chanse's father is a firefighter. He shares this fact with Courtney.[11]
- Angela describes Chanse’s confidence as something not fueled by ego, but by a genuine desire for and comfort with connection. [12]
