Anthony is Dead: The Funeral Roast was a variety show hosted by the Smosh Family that aired live on December 8, 2023 via Kiswe. It was based on the former Smosh series, The Funeral Roast, and could be considered as its series finale. It was the first-ever ticketed live show since Smosh became an independent entity.

Description

Smosh reawakens their breakout series [Blank] is Dead: The Funeral Roast for a night to DIE for! Anthony Padilla will Roast in Peace, and all of your favorite Smosh friends will be at his "Funeral" to make it so. With a musical halftime show, YouTuber guests, and the ability to submit your OWN roasts, this will be the WILDEST live show that you may ever attend!

Before the Funeral starts, come hang out with the cast as we get amped for the show with our live Pre-Funeral Stream at 5:30 PT on Kiswe (and free on YouTube). And the party doesn't stop once the Funeral ends! Join us for a 30-minute VIP After-Show, where we'll answer questions from the audience & share some of our "Rejected Roasts".

The event was partially announced on November 17, 2023. During the post-ending sequence at the end of "FOOD BATTLE 2023", Ian Hecox made a final statement on Anthony Padilla's "death" as part of the storyline, and that he suggested holding a funeral for him, alluding to a former Smosh series, The Funeral Roast, which has stopped uploading videos after Hecox and Padilla's reacquisition of Smosh in June 2023 and the return of sketch comedies on the main channel. However, for channel members, the live event was fully announced, and they received a special code to access its presale.

The event was fully announced on November 20, 2023, accompanied by the official trailer that featured the full cast and their characters. Tickets went up on sale on the same day for the general public.

On December 4, during the main channel promotional livestream, "Reacting to Our Best Funeral Roasts", Smosh announced that Rhett & Link would be appearing as guests in the live show. On December 7, Brandon Rogers was announced as the second guest. Finally, during the live show, Dan & Phil were revealed to be the surprise guests.
